Course Description
What is PSLDCP?
Valencia’s Public Safety Leadership Development Certificate Program (PSLDCP) was specifically designed to help all public safety leaders gain confidence and competence in the critical skills needed for leading others in the 21st century.
Who is PSLDCP for?
This program was designed for all leaders who work in the area of public safety, from law enforcement and fire agencies, correctional officers, 911 telecommunications, emergency management, and support services such as human resources, finance, and purchasing.
Why PSLDCP?
One of the most rewarding benefits of this program is the interagency collaboration that is built from public safety professionals working and growing together as our future leaders
How is PSLDCP unique?
What is unique about this program is how it was designed and how it is delivered. To ensure what is taught is relevant and applicable to today’s workplace, Valencia conducted a focus group with 21st-century leaders to assess the skills needed to lead in one of these challenging workplaces. The critical competencies of communication, human factors, vision/perspective, self-awareness, mentoring, human resource management, situational awareness risk, finance, and quality control were identified as the most critical areas needed for the future. From these competencies, the instructional design team worked to identify learning outcomes that build strength in each of these areas. Our facilitators bring with them knowledge and skills along with perspectives on how this information can help guide a leader’s most important work.
