Program Overview & Certifications Earned

Our Accelerated Skills Training (AST) programs are designed to help students gain industry-recognized certifications and job-ready skills in a matter of weeks. This streamlined approach is ideal for individuals looking to quickly transition into a new field or advance their career in a short timeframe.

Valencia’s Medical Office Specialist program prepares students for a fast-paced healthcare environment through hands-on training in scheduling, billing and coding, and electronic health records. Students will gain the administrative and technical knowledge needed to support medical teams and deliver a quality patient experience.

* This course is delivered over a period of eight weeks.

Upon successful completion, students will be eligible to earn the following National Certifications:

  • NHA Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA)
  • NHA Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS)
  • NHA Certified Electronic Health Records Specialist (CEHRS)
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • May be eligible for credits toward an Associate in Science Degree in Medical Administration

Certificates of Completion:

  • NHA PersonAbility – Improves soft skills through virtual simulations
  • Florida Alliance to End Human Trafficking Training Certificate
  • Valencia College Medical Office Specialist

Enrollment Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age by the time of course completion
  • Proof of High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
  • Read, Write, and Comprehend English
  • For employment purposes – must pass background and drug test
