This streamlined approach is ideal for individuals looking to quickly transition into a new field or advance their career in a short timeframe.
Valencia’s Industrial Automation Technician (Mechatronics) program provides foundational training in automation, maintenance, and production systems used in advanced manufacturing. Students gain hands-on experience working with mechanical components, electrical drives, hydraulics, pneumatics, technical documentation, and introductory programmable logic controls (PLCs) in a lab-based environment designed to mirror real industrial systems.
* Contact hours do not include homework assigned by the instructor. The evening class option includes 96 hours of online independent study.
Upon successful completion, students will be eligible to earn:
- Maintenance Operations (NIMS)
- Mechanical Components I (PMMI)
- Fluid Power I (PMMI)
- Industrial Electricity I (PMMI)
- OSHA 10 General Industry
- May also be eligible for college credits toward an AS Degree in Supervision & Management for Industry OR an AS Degree in Energy Management and Controls Technology OR an AS Degree in Advanced Manufacturing and Automation Technology
Enrollment Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age by the time of course completion
- Must read and speak conversational English
- Be able to carry objects of 50 pounds or less routinely
